Chemistry (Organic) is at the heart of modern science—from life-saving drugs and advanced materials to sustainable energy solutions. The M. Sc. in (Organic) at Alliance University is a two-year postgraduate program that provides advanced knowledge in organic synthesis, reaction mechanisms, heterocyclic and organometallic chemistry, spectroscopy, and bio-organic systems. The curriculum combines rigorous coursework with laboratory training in techniques such as UV-Vis, IR, and chromatography.
In the final semester, students undertake a dissertation project, gaining experience in scientific inquiry and communication. Graduates are equipped for careers in academia, pharmaceuticals, polymers, agrochemicals, and allied industries, or for doctoral research in chemistry and interdisciplinary fields.
Two Years (Full-time)
PEO1. Foundational Knowledge: Graduates of the program will possess a solid foundation in the fundamental principles and theories of chemistry, including concepts related to chemical bonding, thermodynamics, kinetics, and spectroscopy. They will demonstrate proficiency in understanding the behavior of matter at the atomic and molecular levels, laying the groundwork for further study or professional practice in chemistry-related fields.
PEO2. Experimental and Analytical Skills: Upon completion of the program, graduates will have developed practical skills in experimental techniques, chemical analysis, and laboratory procedures through hands-on experiences in Chemistry Laboratories. They will be proficient in conducting experiments, interpreting results, and applying analytical methods to solve chemical problems, preparing them for careers in research, industry, and academia where experimental skills are essential.
PEO3. Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving: Graduates will be equipped with the ability to think critically, analyze complex chemical phenomena, and solve problems using scientific reasoning and quantitative methods. They will demonstrate proficiency in evaluating scientific literature, designing experiments, and applying theoretical concepts to practical situations, enabling them to address challenges in diverse areas such as chemical synthesis, materials science, environmental chemistry, and pharmaceuticals.
PEO4. Professional Ethics and Responsibility: Graduates will uphold ethical standards and integrity in their practice of chemistry, demonstrating a commitment to safety, environmental sustainability, and societal well-being. They will understand the ethical implications of their work, adhere to professional codes of conduct, and communicate scientific information accurately and responsibly to diverse audiences.

PSO1: Graduates will demonstrate a deep understanding of fundamental chemical principles and theories, enabling them to analyze and solve complex problems in various branches of chemistry.

For final year Project / Dissertation the assessment will be done on a continuous basis. For the final year project and Viva – Voce Semester End Examination, the student shall submit a Project Report in the prescribed format issued by the university.
