The Department of Language and Literature serves as Alliance University’s hub for languages, literatures, and cultural studies. Bringing together faculty with diverse specialisations in literary studies, creative writing, translation, marketing communication, and interdisciplinary humanities, the department is home to an intellectually vibrant environment grounded in critical inquiry and creative expression.
The Department offers instruction and academic engagement across a wide spectrum of languages and fields of enquiry. In addition to its full-fledged programs viz. BA English and MA English (Creative Writing), the Department plays a crucial academic role across the University’s ecosystem by offering courses in French, German, Spanish, Hindi and Kannada across the University. Nearly 1500 students each semester engage with the Department through communication courses, language instruction, and open electives cutting across various schools and academic programs.
This broad academic footprint enables the Department to anchor the linguistic, literary, and communicative core of the University’s Liberal Arts vision. Our programs, from undergraduate to doctoral and postdoctoral levels — emphasise research-driven pedagogy, creativity, analytical thinking, and scholarly independence, preparing students for dynamic academic, cultural, and professional futures.
